Relay Interviews [Squeeze Spirits] : Lay x Mizuha
Relay: Lay x Mizuha : Part 3 [translator's notes in brackets [] ]
'Inevitability =/= Happenstance.'
SS: Okay. But so, less than your fans, your members are more pure, more genuine then ...
Lay: Somehow, I've felt like that a lot of times. Simply, didn't I start this for the fans? I've had bands that I liked as well. But steadily, I've had these moments where I realize things like just how filthy adults are. Of course I realize that everyone becomes an adult at some point ... But, probably I've just grown more realistic.
SS: You're really that realistic?
Lay: Very much so (small laugh). I think that humans are the worst out of all the living creatures. It's because I don't want to sugar coat things. But whatever another person feels is fine, it's just a dream of mine, and I really don't want to forget the purity of childhood. And so I really don't want Mizuha to lose that part of himself.
SS: I understand. Mizuha-san, how about you?
Mizuha: Mm, well, it seems like Lay has already said everything ... With how long this band has gone on, Lay has really grown calmer. More than he used to be, I think because he's seen so much, he's put a brake on some parts of himself. Maybe because he's an adult now, or maybe because he feels like there's nothing that can be done for it .... But I think that it's absolutely not necessary for him to have that brake. Well, there are some people who need to use that type of brake, but I don't want him to stop with his punk lifestyle. Especially since he's the most offensive person in our band, he has teeth. .... Though, I don't really think he'll forget that part of him at all (laughs).
