Kanoma's OHP Diary

expectations

Give me a flower
To signify the first step

After the flower, write me a letter
So your words will never die

After your letter, let me hear your voice
From your throat, your voice will sway my heart

After your voice, kiss me
Lips are more sensitively affected than eardrums

After your kiss, give me every inch of your body
I want to share the joy of a change in temperature

And after that, stay beside me
To keep this peace of mind

a long night

The night is long because of someone
The trees are silent in their deep sleep
The distance between the moon and the stars shrink (Possibly it was the result of the sun, or it was the result of me showing off my existence, and the moonlight grew)
Pet cats, sheltered in their upbringing, unexpectedly turn wild, like ancient times
The tide of the ocean rises calmly
Outside, the smell that has never existed here due to the humidity floats
Even that, a nyctalopic*** bird doesn't realize the change
fua fua* toku toku** fua fua toku toku
A pall of darkness
The sparkles of the asphalt of this simple hill road glitter
Tonight, on my way home, I had hoped to see you.

translating notes:
*fua fua: onomatopoeia for the sound of flying softly
**toku toku: possibly onomatopoeia for the sound of walking softly
***nyctalopic: another word for night blindness
**** This is most likely a love poem, the "I" is realizing that they are in love. Everything takes on a new meaning. Nature is a common theme in Japanese poetry to show such things.

the dominant hand

[]The skilled, the unskilled, the sky's appearance
[]The skilled, the unskilled, koimoyou*Do you like the rain, you ask me
I hate the rain, I replyBut is that really true?
The real intention is somewhat different.
Fingers firmly tied together
Even in those small spaces between fingers, rain gets through
Although it doesn't dry,
It still feels good.[]The skilled, the unskilled, the sky’s appearance
[]The skilled, the unskilled, koimoyou*Your right hand draws an arc
Cleverly, cleverly, it draws such arcs
Although your left hand is unskilled,
It draws various things.**Generally, everyone is right-handed
If both right and left were joined,
Then the skilled and unskilled could be togetherHowever, I am left-handed, and you are the opposite
You can’t join the unskilled with the skilled ***
I'd rather join with an unskilled companion,
Than join skilled with skilledFingers firmly tied together
Even in those small spaces between fingers, rain gets through
Although it doesn't dry,
It still feels good.[]The skilled, the unskilled, the sky’s appearance
[]The skilled, the unskilled, koimoyou*

translating notes:
[] this part of the poem is repeated, and to understand one of the reasons why is to see that it rhymes:
kiyou, bukiyou, soramoyou
kiyou, bukiyou, koimoyou

* Is not translatable into English. It describes the feeling of when you are in love, but unsure whether it will go sour, or good. This is central to the meaning of the poem.
** Very interesting point here, Kanoma plays with the sounds and kanji again. The lines about drawing the arc are "ko wo egaku". The first two "ko" kanjis are about arcs. The last "ko" kanji is various things, such as items like a box. This play with kanji to confuse or bring deeper meaning is something a lot of writers do.
*** Very specific part of the poem, it resonates with the repeated part of the poem: skilled is right-handed, and unskilled is left-handed. So because he--identified by the use of 'ore' in the poem--is the unskilled, and the you is the skilled, joining the two together can't be done. It's very specific, because it’s supposed to be the skilled, and then the unskilled. And because he sees his situation as the unskilled and then the skilled, joining together isn't possible.
>>> Overall, the poem seems to be describing "koimoyou."

faint

In the habit of all these emotions it's just too easy to shrug off 'love'.
Like the darkness, like the warm finger, I'm also more transparent than the rain, brushing her hair sharply.
In her purity also all human are holding words which are too inadequate.
And he is writing things about the shape of faint, knowing.

the structure of memories

going out: everything should come into place
even when going far, or walking through the neighborhood,
i'll only carry as much as i need, and after that - everything will come into placecellphones ringing, girls putting on makeup: i despise those thingsunknown, i walk these streets
not a care in the world
and this makes the day a little betterunknown, i walk around town
i'll eat at that declining restaurant
and this makes the day a little specialand one day, obstacles won't come in;
and it will feel as though they [obstacles] never existedand so, it will never go there again
surprisingly, special things are easy to create.

the human pound

So that everyone could live a healthy life in a peaceful town, a beautiful town, we created the human pound.
What do you think about that?

"Some wandering guy took a shit in our backyard!"
Hurry, take him away to the human pound.

"Horny couples fucking loudly---'nyan nyan*'---night after night. Shut up!"
Now!, take them away to the human pound.

*the sound of cats mating

"That neighborhood brat, little shit!, bit me! I only teased him!"
Without delay, take him away to the human pound.

"A lost girl followed me. She told me she was hungry. However, I couldn't take her in."
"She might have some kind of disease."
Don't wait, take her away to the human pound.Do not worry.

At the human pound, we euthanize with one injection.
It's painless.

One day, Okada-san's favorite daughter, Mimi-chan, went into his garden as she pleased, and played.
Accidentally, Mimi-chan stepped all over Okada-san's prized possession: his pansy flowerbed.
Okada-san became terribly enraged. So he carried her away to the human pound.
"Wait! It was just an accident. She's just a child. She can't yet see the difference between right and wrong. She didn't mean to..."

Do not worry.
At the human pound, we euthanize with one injection.
It's painless."Don't you have any mercy? She doesn't understand what's wrong or right."Do not worry.
At the human pound, we euthanize with one injection.
It's painless.

So that everyone could live a healthy life in a peaceful town, a beautiful town, we created the human pound.
What do you think about that?
